Each month we will be posting up a video blog from a different member of our trust board, starting with our non executive directors. This a chance for you, our public and patients, to get to know the people who govern our organisation and the decisions made. In our monthly Whittington Express, a short ‘getting to know you’ piece from the board member will be included.
The Trust Board consists of a team of full time executive directors responsible for the day to day management of the hospital, supported by a chairman and six non-executive directors who bring a valuable external dimension to the leadership and management of the hospital.
Board meetings take place monthly (except August) and are held in a range of locations throughout Islington and Haringey. The board meets in public and members of the public are given an opportunity to ask questions or make comments at the close of each meeting. Papers are available on the internet. In addition, the board holds regular internal seminars on strategic and operational issues.
The Trust Board has a number of sub-committees to oversee procedural and financial management of the hospital. These are:
*Remuneration and nominations Committee
*Audit and risk committee
*Quality Committee
*Charitable funds committee .
The Trust is committed to being open and transparent in all of its work with the public, patients and staff, and takes all possible steps to communicate widely and effectively. It has good collaborative relationships with external stakeholders such as the Care Commissioning Groups, Local Authorities and Overview and Scrutiny Committees and we hope these video blogs will further profile the work taking place at Whittington Health.
