Smoking cessation success

Whittington Health is delighted to announce that 2,460 Islington residents have managed to successfully give up smoking during 2011-2012 thanks to the fantastic effort of the Islington Stop Smoking Service.

The service was set an ambitious target to support 2,400 smokers quit last year, and the fact that this has been surpassed is a fantastic achievement for both our clients and the service.

Vicky Smith, Islington Stop Smoking Service manager explains “This really is fantastic for the whole team and all of our Stop Smoking Advisors who have worked extremely hard over the past year to help our local population quit smoking. They have ensured that we have provided a great service which we can be proud of, and that yields some great results.”

On average, each stop smoking advisor has a 45 per cent success rate with their clients, which means that a huge number of people that are referred to the service can successfully quit smoking. This is reflected in the fact that smoking prevalence in Islington has decreased from 28 per cent to 25 per cent over the past two years.

Stop Smoking Clinics are held on:
Thursdays between 12-1:40pm at 338-346 Goswell Road, EC1V 7LQ and there is no need to book.

Tuesdays between 4:30-6:30pm at Partnership Primary Care Centre, N7 0SL and there is no need to book.

Sessions are also held daily at the Whittington Hospital, N19. To book, please call 0800 093 9030.
