Refurbishment of maternity unit

Friday 8 March 2013

Our induction ward and maternity triage is currently closed for an exciting new refurbishment project.

Whittington Health's maternity unit was successful in receiving money for the Department of Health to upgrade this ward and work has now started.

The new ward will have single rooms with en suite facilities where women and their partner can stay in comfort while they are being induced. Temporarily, women being induced will be on Murray ward, partners are welcome to stay whilst on the ward.

Women needing to attend triage are currently seen on the labour ward but on Monday 18 March this service will be moving to Betty Mansell, next to the woman's diagnostic service.

Triage is a walk in service and as such women may experience periods of having to wait to be fully assessed, due to the number of women also coming to use the service. People are seen in order of priority not order of arrival.

We look forward to welcoming women back to the redecorated ward in October 2013, when it re-opens.
