Minister for public health, Caroline Flint MP, visited the Whittington on 4 July to oversee the Trust’s adoption of a zero-tolerance policy on smoking anywhere on the hospital premises or grounds.

On Thursday 14 July over a hundred people, including one of the victims (pictured above third from left) who happened to be at the hospital because he had come to get his stitches taken out, gathered outside the main entrance of the hospital at for the two-minute silence to commemorate the outrages of the previous Thursday in London.more

Dick Whittington summer school

Forty 16-year-old pupils from local schools, almost all of whom  from less affluent socio-economic backgrounds, spent a week on a work experience summer school at the Whittington before applying to medical school.  Between 4 and 8 July 2005, they worked in small groups, visiting hospital departments and nearby GP practices.  They met doctors, talked to patients, watched operations, and learnt about the diseases they encounter.  more

Former Eastenders ‘soap’ star, Michelle Collins pictured here with infection control consultant Dr Michael Kelsey and Deborah Wheeler director of nursing and clinical development, visited the Whittington Hospital NHS Trust on Monday 17 January to launch the cleanyourhands programme at the hospital.
