Charlie George opens new department
Arsenal legend Charlie George visited the Whittington on Wednesday 21 March to formally open the new imaging and radiology department.
The opening was jointly organised with Asteral, the company that owns and manages the equipment in the department on our behalf and was attended by a mixture of their business partners, our stakeholders and staff from the department.
Our agreement with Asteral ensures that the hospital benefits from having one of Britain’s most technologically advanced imaging departments.
Opening the department, Charlie said, "I was born and have lived all my life in this area so it's great to know that this hospital has such good facilities for the local people".
He continued, "I'm really amazed at all the technical machinery the hospital has got and it's great that it's here for the people in this area to use".
Dr David Grant, clinical director of diagnostics and therapies and consultant radiologist said, "We are all delighted with the new department. Working in such a modern and spacious environment with state-of-the-art equipment enables us to offer the best possible service to our patients. We are now concentrating on developing new services and further improving both access times and the communication of results."
