Bunbury cricket plays for 'Building for Babies'
On Sunday 16 September David English’s World-Famous Bunbury XI played the North Middlesex Cricket Club Celebrity XI to raise money for the Whittington Hospital’s Building for Babies appeal. Over the last 21 years David and his Bunbury’s have raised over £10 million for charities.The day began football fuelled, with the Barmy Army verses Colts under 13 game, followed by a Nike freestyle demonstration and a five-a-side football match with Tottenham Hot Spurs and Haringey Autism Society.
The cricket saw celebrities Lloyd Honeghan, world champion boxer, Eastender Rudolph Walker, Arsenal legend Lee Dixon and Harry Judd of Mcfly fame, amongst others, compete alongside Whittington players, chief executive David Sloman, Leon Beckett and Glen Winteringham. North Middlesex CC Celebrity XI, captained by Daily Telegraph’s Gareth Davies, won the game after a three year challenge to do so.
An all round day for the family included a barbeque, ice cream and bouncy castles, as well as an auction in the late afternoon. The event had a successful turnout of 13,000 people and raised £6,000 for the appeal.
