On Wednesday 26 September the Whittington Hospital held its first open event for patients and public to meet our staff, sample the different ways in which departments function across the hospital and to see our wonderful new building.more

Special Commendation for COPD
The Whittington’s COPD service, led by Myra Stern and Louise Restrick, consultant chest physicians, and Helen Broomfield, head of chronic respiratory service, has been awarded a special commendation by the British Thoracic Society for their innovation in patient involvement.more
Opening of the Mary Seacole ward
The Mary Seacole ward opened on Friday 26 October in the new building. The ward was officially opened by Professor Elizabeth Anionwu, a professor of nursing who was formerly head of the Mary Seacole Centre for Nursing Practice.more
Healthcare commission's annual performance ratings
The Whittington Hospital achieved scores of ‘good’ for quality of services and the use of resources, in the Healthcare Commission’s annual performance ratings for 2006/7, published on Thursday 18 October.more
The Beatles greatest gift to science
On Saturday 10 November 2007 Whittington radiologist Dr Ben Timmis, gave an entertaining lecture to 70 people at the Highbury Roundhouse about the invention, development and future of the CT scanner - and what the chart-topping band The Beatles did to help its production. more
Happy Birthday to Critical Care Unit
On Sunday 18 November the Critical Care Unit celebrated their first birthday in their new home. The unit moved from St Mary’s Wing at the end of 2006 to level 2 in the new building.more
