Maternity Services

Welcome to the Whittington Health maternity service
Whether you are pregnant and thinking about where to have your baby or someone thinking about joining our team, I am delighted that you have chosen to visit our website.

This website has been written by the staff who provide the services that you may need throughout your maternity care.

The aim of this website is to have information in one place about the services we provide both in the home, community and hospital. We provide a range of services in both the hospital and the local community.

We believe that good maternity care is based on the partnership between a woman, her partner, the midwifery team and where necessary, a specialist doctor (obstetrician). Our aim is to promote the health, safety and comfort of you and your baby throughout your pregnancy, birth and postnatal period.

Midwives will care for you throughout your pregnancy, referring to medical colleagues and other health professionals as appropriate. We aim to support you and your partner in all decisions regarding where and how you prefer to deliver your baby. Depending on your pregnancy and individual wishes, you can choose to deliver at home, in our birth centre, or on our labour ward.

I recommend that you look at NHS Choices, a national website that provides up to date information on pregnancy and offers detailed information about what to expect during pregnancy and what you need to know at each stage of your pregnancy.
