Fundraising for The Whittington with Maureen Lipman


On Sunday 29 August Maureen Lipman kindly gave of her time to host a fundraiser for the care of older people appeal. Highgate Schoolprovided the perfect setting for Maureen to recount her adventures on stage and screen inviting fellow actor friends; Eve Pearce, who is also a governor for the hospital, Emma Dewhurst, Anna Carteret, Tracy Ann Oberman, Jessie Buckley, the Olivier nominated stage actress Kelly Price and Hannah Waddingham from ‘A Little Night Music’ to recount their experiences and stories.

Maureen has been a commanding presence in the British entertainment industry throughout a varied and enduring career. From films such as Educating Rita and Roman Polanski’s The Pianist through to television programmes like The Sweeney and Coronation Street, Maureen knows the showbiz industry back to front and it was a pleasure to hear her moving and often hilarious tales. Chair of the appeal Dr Barry Hoffbrand thanked Maureen saying: “Maureen has long been a major supporter, ever generous with her time and talent in the cause of The Whittington Hospital and for all this we are eternally grateful”.
