Garden development stage updates
Stage one of building the fantastic Whittington sensory garden is now complete, and it won't be long before staff, patients and their families can enjoy the garden on warm sunny days.
The wire fencing and overgrown has been removed, and boundaries marking the design have been put in place along with bedding areas. As you can see from the aerial photograph on the previous page, paw prints have already been put in place which will house flowers and other planting, while other areas are being prepared to accommodate furniture fittings such as benches.
We will keep you posted with the progress of the garden throughout the coming weeks.
At the end of stage two, the main entrance to the garden started to take shape along with the new footpath for wheelchair access. The first mosaic paw print is laid out, while the new paws are cut into surface. Finally, footing for seating start to go in and raised planters start to come out of the ground.
Stage three is complete and the layout of the garden is now really starting to progress as the bedding areas become more prominent. It won't be long before we can all enjoy the wonderful garden!
The ground has been levelled out and thebedding areas around the edge of the garden are also in place.
At the completion of stage four, the ground has been covered over, in preperation of a sand like coating that will be added later.
The second and third mosaic footprints are nearing completion, while the fencing to the garden is not far from being brought in.
