Sun awareness stand
On Friday 8 June the dermatology team led by clinical nurse specialist Lucy Reeves held a skin care awareness stand in the hospital’s atrium to raise awareness about the importance of looking after your skin.Hosted by enthusiastic champions, the team offered useful advice to patients, staff and visitors alike, with top tips, leaflets and a selection of products to sample.
As we approach the summer months, some of the focus was on the damage that the sun can do to our skin, but the team were also able to discuss and advise on all sorts of dermatological conditions such as dry and itchy skin and eczema, with products also available on the stall to treat these symptoms.
Lucy, who was enthusiastic about the event said “In tune with the rain outside, we had a stream of people coming to see us. Our sun awareness and skin care education day was a huge success.”
The event saw a healthy mix of both patients and staff visiting Lucy and her team and she explained “Staff, patients and service users swamped our stand seeking advice and our free samples.”
