Arsenal players visit sick children at the Whittington

On Thursday 20 December, footballers from Arsenal Football Club paid a visit to sick children at the Whittington Hospital to spread a little Christmas joy.

Five players from the north London club visited the children’s ward in their annual visit. Vermaelen, Mertesacker, Santos, Koscielny and Djourou delighted the children with a plethora gifts including replica Arsenal kits, soft toys and board games.

Sheila Docherty, play service co-ordinator at the Whittington who organised the visit, said: “We really appreciate the players taking time out of their training schedule to visit the Whittington. They were very generous with their gifts and the children were absolutely thrilled to spend time with their idols.

“It’s tough for sick children at Christmas knowing they will be spending the festive period in hospital, but Arsenal Football Club is really committed to spreading a little happiness to our youngest patients.”
