Your Pregnancy - Antenatal Appointments

Our Services - Maternity Services - Your pregnancy - Appointments - Top Image
The care you receive from healthcare professionals during your pregnancy is called antenatal care.
You will be offered a series of appointments with a midwife, or sometimes with a doctor who specialises in pregnancy and birth (an obstetrician).
Most of your care will be provided by midwives in community clinics and you may be asked to attend appointments in the hospital if necessary. You will meet with your midwife regularly to check you and your baby are well. Your midwife will also give you useful information to help you have a healthy pregnancy and answer all your questions.
Antenatal classes:
We also offer antenatal classes free of charge as part of our maternity service.
Our antenatal classes include:
  • Early Bird classes delivered in partnership with physiotherapists.
  • Antenatal Education: preparation for labour, birth and beyond
  • Baby feeding workshops
  • Journey to Parenthood (Islington Residents only)

Classes are held in the Whittington Hospital and various venues across Haringey and Islington as well as online via Microsoft Teams.
Please discuss your options with your midwife who will then book you into a class. Alternatively email your team to find out more.:
