Our antenatal ward is Murray Ward.

Within the antenatal ward there are 15 beds with the main care being for antenatal mothers. Care is provided for women admitted during their pregnancy with medical or obstetric complications. Currently low risk inductions are also being carried out on Murray Ward. Recently refurbished with improved facilities, the ward provides a calm environment for women and staff.

The antenatal ward is staffed by a team of core midwives, health care assistants and clerical staff, with further assistance given by student midwives. We also have an obstetric team on a ward round in the morning and who are called at any time of the day if a woman requires medical attention.

Visiting hours

Visiting times are 3pm - 7pm every day for visitors other than partners and companions.

Please note that only the children of women staying on the ward can visit, preferably from 3pm. Women and their partners should not open doors for other visitors and should not take their baby out of the ward unless they have been discharged.

Not more than 2 visitors at any time including partners.

Partners who are staying overnight are also advised not to leave the ward between 11pm and 6am, with the exception of families whose babies are admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
