Imaging and Investigations

Ultrasound on foot
At the Whittington Musculoskeletal (MSK) Clinic, our advanced practice physiotherapists are dedicated to providing thorough assessments of your musculoskeletal conditions. Following your assessment, your physiotherapist may recommend further investigations, such as imaging studies, to enhance their understanding of your specific issue.

Investigations may include X-rays, MRIs, ultrasound scan or nerve conduction studies, which help to visualize the structures within your body. Referrals for these investigations are made to ensure a precise diagnosis and to guide the most effective treatment plan tailored to your needs. Understanding the underlying causes of pain or discomfort is essential in facilitating optimal recovery and improving your overall quality of life.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Where will my results be sent?

Normally results are sent to whoever referred you. MSKCATs when they receive the results normally discuss them with you when you rebook a follow up and then send an update letter to your GP.

Can I get a copy of the report and images?

Your imaging report can be provided by your MSKCATS clinician. Images are automatically sent to the hospital system. If you require the images you can speak with imaging department of the hospital you are referred to and potentially purchase a CD with images on a disc.
