Whittington’s new building addresses the issue of mixed-sex wards

Whittington’s new building addresses the issue of mixed-sex wardsA recent report by the Chief Nursing Officer cited the Whittington as not compliant with the Government’s target to eliminate mixed-sex wards. However, the report was based on an audit carried out last autumn and since then we have moved into our new building which has enabled us to address the issue.

Trish Morris-Thompson chief nurse NHS London says: ‘Since the publication of the last healthcare commission survey in 2006, the Whittington Hospital NHS Trust has made demonstrable progress in reducing mixed sex accommodation. NHS London has as part of our performance monitoring visited the Trust to assess their progress. During the course of the visit we were provided with demonstrable evidence of improvement.’
