Lord mayors walk from Whittington

Lord mayors walk from WhittingtonOn Sunday 30 March the Lord Mayor of the City of London, Alderman Right Honorable David Lewis, with mayors from 32 London Boroughs, retraced the infamous steps of Dick Whittington.

The annual walk is in its 35th year and starting at the Whittington the group did the five-mile trek to the City of London. Going through the familiar streets of Holloway, Highbury Corner, and onto Upper Street the group were piped by a Pipers Band into a pub for a quick drink. Continueing their journey into Hoxton, Old Street and the City they were welcomed by men on horse back and bagpipes to the Mansion House where their journey finished.

The Lord Mayor of London, David Lewis, said: “It was a splendid idea to get all the London mayors out of their offices on a Sunday walk for their individual charities.”
