Whittington Winter Fayre, a great success!

Whittington Winter Fayre, a great success! The Whittington Winter Community Health Fayre gave a fantastic debut on Wednesday 10 December. The official turning on of the Christmas tree lights by Islington Mayor, Councillor Stefan Kasprzyk marked the start of the fayre and was accompanied by festive and charming carolling by St Joseph’s school choir (choir pictured here with Chairman Joe Liddane and Mayor Stefan Kasprzyk ).
Whittington Winter Fayre, a great success! 2Departments and services across the hospital hosted stalls in all four atriums highlighting the facilities that are available to all. Visitors had the opportunity to measure their body mass index, receive advice on working in the health care profession, sample patient foods, and learn resuscitation techniques. Patients, visitors and staff were also able to learn more about infection control, social services in the area, maternity and cancer care facilities, as well as the little things about being a pharmacist that you might not have already known. (Eve Hurst, Amanda Bluglass and Aarti Nandani grabbed attention to highlight all the different areas that are involved in being a pharmacist).
Whittington Winter Fayre, a great success! 3Neil Brady, service manager for the emergency department, was awarded the Owl wireless monitor for coming up with the winning entry for the greener Whittington slogan competition. Look out for the cat ‘says paws for thought! Switch off!’, which will be the strapline for the hospital’s environmental campaign. ( Phil Ient, pictured left, awards Neil Brady with his prize).

The day was a great success and we hope this to be the first in a long line of annual Winter Fayres.
