NHS Appointments Commission appoints new non-executive director to Whittington Hospital Trust BoardProfessor Jane Dacre has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director for the Whittington Hospital by the Appointments Commission's Health and Social Care Appointments Committee from 1 January 2009 to 31 December 2012.

Professor Dacre took up her first consultant post as a Rheumatologist in 1990 and was a lead clinician in the development of the first Clinical Skills Centre in the UK. She has continued to develop expertise in the Medical Education and Rheumatology in parallel. Her current academic interest is in the training and assessment of doctors in general and Rheumatologists in particular.

She was elected Academic Vice President of the Royal College of Physicians where she served three years in this role and has recently been appointed to the new GMC Council. She is currently Director of Medical Education and Vice Dean at UCL Medical School.

Professor Dacre says she is delighted to be appointed in to such a role and is looking forward to the contribution she can make to the local community.

Whittington chairman Joe Liddane says he is extremely pleased with the new appointment. “Professor Dacre will bring extensive experience and knowledge to the Whittington Board.”.

“I would also like to thank Professor Anne Johnson who is stepping down from the Trust Board for her extraordinary contribution over the years” he said.

All non-executive appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees political activity (if any declared) to be made public.

Jane Dacre has declared no political activity and does not hold any ministerial appointments.
