Go London and Think Feet First launched
As you may have seen the NHS London has recently launched Go London and the accompanying Think Feet First walking campaign which the Whittington Hospital is proud to be supporting. Displayed around the Whittington Hospital are Think Feet First posters and leaflets and we are encouraging all staff to get more active.
Go London is a programme designed to increase participation in physical activity and improve health on the run up to the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games in London and Think Feet First is a major new walking campaign, launched as part of the Go London programme, encouraging us all to walk more.
The Think Feet First campaign includes London wide poster advertising; 47 local NHS Community Chest initiatives to help staff get more active; 16 Walking Ambassadors roadshow schemes, for London’s most inactive boroughs, in partnership with Natural England; newspaper coverage and a website – www.thinkfeetfirst.com
During the first stage of the campaign all Londoners are being urged to consider walking first for short journeys.
The campaign messages are:
- Nearly half of all journeys are walkable
- Even a short walk is a workout
So why not try and take the stairs instead of the lift, walk rather than drive to your local shops and try and build walking into your usual trip to work?
