Dr Pauline Leonard joins the Whittington
Dr Pauline Leonard joins the Whittington Hospital Trust on 6 April 2009 as Consultant Medical Oncologist specialising in the management of Gastrointestinal and Lung cancers as well as taking on the role of Lead cancer clinician.
She joins with seven years experience working as the first medical oncologist at Southend NHS University Foundation trust and during that time built up a considerable experience of developing chemotherapy services for local patients. She has a track record of implementing effective change using audit as a tool to identify pathways and practices that are not delivering.
She also has a keen interest in the value of effective communication. She has been delivering and facilitating courses in her local cancer network as well as across the UK since October 2003. In November 2008 she was appointed the National Clinical Lead for the advanced communication skills programme now known as Connected. She hopes to continue this work locally.
Pauline is really looking forward to working at the trust. She was a registrar at the Whittington as part of her Specialist Oncology training in 1998. She has very fond memories of the Hospital and is further motivated to help bring a world class cancer service to the local population as she lives locally in Muswell Hill.
