Wendy Martinson - joint Clinical Nutrition Service Manager receives an OBE

Wendy's OBEWendy Martinson, The Whittington’s joint clinical nutrition service manager with Kyriacos Shiamtanis, has been awarded an OBE in the new year’s honour list for services to sport and to nutrition.

She initially received a letter in November 2009 saying her name had been put forward for an OBE and asking if she was happy to accept the award. Wendy initially thought it was a prank as it was so out of the blue but then realised it was real and of course sent off an affirmative response: “I was absolutely thrilled, surprised and really honoured to be nominated for such an award."

Wendy is allowed to take three guests with her to the palace on the 12th of February 2010 to receive her award so she will take her partner Rob, as well as her sister Carole and Carole's husband Ian.

Wendy has worked at The Whittington since 2004. As well as working in a job-share here she has worked with British athletes across the globe, from West Ham united to the English National ballet and even accompanying the Olympic Great Britain Rowing and Gymnastics teams to Olympic games in 2004 and 2008.

The Whittington is delighted for Wendy on her thoroughly deserved recognition.
