Camden and Islington diabetic retinal screening

In November of last year the Peer Review External Quality Assurance (EQA) temporarily suspended the Camden and Islington diabetic retinal screening service. Since this time we have been working to address the concerns that had been raised so as to commence our recall process for patients identified as in need of a further review.

We have now reached the point whereby we have identified the first group of patients needing clinic appointment with an ophthalmologist are being communicated with and we expect to begin this process on Friday 23 April 2010. Our review is ongoing and will take a number of months to complete so other patients will be called back for either a consultant appointment or to have a re-screening appointment. We are aiming to have the full service up and running again later this year.
