MBE for John Farrell

MBE for John farrellAs part of the Queen’s birthday honours, John Farrell has received an MBE for his services to healthcare. John is the director of pharmaceutical services at The Whittington Hospital NHS Trust and the Royal Free NHS Trust, and the clinical lead for pharmacy at University College London Hospitals.

John was born at The Whittington and even spent a year in the hospital as an inpatient when he was four years old. He has worked at The Whittington since 1982 and as well as having been chairman of The Whittington’s research ethics committee for twenty years, leaving the post only last year, he is also a founder of The Whittington Hospital Runners club, a running group that has raised over £100,000 for Whittington charities.

On receiving the award, John said, “I am delighted to receive an MBE and I wasn’t expecting it. I have always felt it is an incredible privilege to work for the health service so to receive this recognition is wonderful.”

The Whittington is delighted that John has been recognised for all his hard work and dedication.
