Student concerts at The Whittington

the students performingFriday 2 July sees students from the City and Islington College 'Blast Beat' music group perform for patients and staff in the main entrance of The Whittington hospital. Having already performed on Thursday 24 June the group brightened everyone's day with powerful performances of songs from the last sixty years, from Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ to jazz standards, the concert raised money for The Whittington’s care of older people appeal and Macmillan’s cancer support.

These events are part of the BlastBeat initiative, a scheme that allows students to form music and multimedia companies and culminates with a national battle of the bands competition with a deal from a major record label for the winner. The Whittington looks forward to having the performers play again for us on Friday 2 July and invites you to see some of the future stars both in front and behind the scenes of the music industry in an unusual and uplifting scenario. They will be performing at mid day in the main reception areas of the hospital.
