The Whittington one of the top twenty NHS organisations to work for in the UK

The Whittington Hospital has been rated twentieth in the second annual Healthcare 100 awards, which recognises the top employers in healthcare. The award is open to both private and public healthcare providers and arranged by the Health Service Journal and Nursing Times.
The Whittington’s director of human resources, Margaret Boltwood was delighted to find out The Whittington’s position at the awards ceremony on Wednesday 7 July, stating; ‘This is a brilliant recognition of the focus The Whittington puts on its staff. We are always looking for ways to enhance our staff's working lives and this award shows that this is appreciated by them. We recognise that delivering excellent patient care to our local community, goes hand in hand with valuing our staff".
Healthcare providers need to be voted into the award system by their staff, a questionnaire is sent out to all staff and those with strong staff response rates are considered. The Whittington is delighted that staff have seen fit to vote their way to the top 20. They say they can influence decision making, that senior managers are 'visible and approachable' and there is excellent communication within the hospital. Staff also praised the friendliness of the organisation, it is "a cottage hospital in the middle of London," says one.
