Whittington Health NHS Trust is pleased to announce that after a competitive recruitment process, Terry Whittle has been appointed as our new Chief Finance Officer. He replaces Kevin Curnow who recently left the Trust to take up a new role at East London NHS Foundation Trust.

Terry joins the Trust from Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust where he has worked as Director of Finance since 2021. Prior to joining Milton Keynes, he was Director of Financial Performance for the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. Terry began his NHS career with the NHS graduate programme and has subsequently held a number of senior finance roles including Head of Finance for NHS Improvement in London, as well as in a national capacity for the Department of Health and Social Care in England.

He joins Whittington Health NHS Trust at an exciting time as the Trust is finalising plans for major capital improvement projects. These include the expansion of its community diagnostic centre in The Mall, Wood Green, adding CT and MRI scanning services, and the transformation of the maternity and neonatal estate to bring the facilities in-line with the high standard of care provided by the Trust team. The Trust is also working hard to ensure that it can treat everyone waiting for planned care as quickly and safely as possible after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking about his appointment, Terry said: “Having spoken with Helen and members of the team, I am very much looking forward to joining the Trust. It is an incredibly challenging time to work in healthcare. As someone who cares deeply about the NHS, I believe Whittington Health is ideally placed to respond to the needs of our population, and I am excited to join the team and play my part.”

Whittington Health’s CEO, Helen Brown, welcomed him to the Trust, saying: “I am thrilled that Terry will be joining the Whittington Health Executive team. Terry’s extensive experience, sound judgement and thorough understanding of NHS finance will help to ensure that we can continue to deliver great care, continuously improve our services and make the best use of NHS resources to benefit our communities and patients.

I’d also like to thank Kevin Curnow for his dedication and hard work since 2018, during which time he helped us to navigate some enormous challenges, not least the unprecedented demands placed on us by the COVID-19 pandemic. We all wish him every success in his new role in East London.”

Terry has been formally appointed and is expected to commence his role in January 2024.
