Research:
His original laboratory work in 1994-5, led to the idea that breast cancer treatment with surgery and radiotherapy needs to be focussed and targeted. Working with Professor Michael Baum and Professor Jeffrey S Tobias, he developed the concept, tools and the surgical operative procedure to give targeted intraoperative radiotherapy to the tissues immediately around a breast cancer, after it is surgically removed. He gave this technique the name TARGIT- for TARGeted Intraoperative radiotherapy. The TARGIT procedure has been now been used in over 12,000 women in over 200 centres in 30 countries.

He has extensive clinical experience in surgical oncology and has been doing all type of operations for breast disease for over 25 years. He works closely with his multidisciplinary team that includes other surgeons, oncologists, pathologists, radiologist, specialist and research nurses, and large team of supportive staff.
