Hello and a warm welcome from the Barnet Oral Health Promotion team.
 
We are a dedicated oral health promotion team committed to improving oral health across the London Borough of Barnet. Our primary focus is to enhance children’s oral health outcomes, reduce oral health inequalities, promote positive oral health habits from an early age and improve access to the dental services for young children and families.
 
We offer range of tailored educational oral health programmes and materials aimed for children, families, educational settings, and health professionals.
 
Early Years and School
  • Oral health education sessions tailored for EYFS, KS1 and KS2
  • Supervised toothbrushing programme support
  • Support available for settings enrolled in the Supervised toothbrushing programme funded by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC/Local authority -led)
  • Interactive workshops and assemblies
  • Staff training and guidance
  • Oral health educational materials

Parents and Families
  • Oral Health face-to-face drop-in sessions at children centres and libraries
  • Parent workshops and information sessions
  • Advice on toothbrushing, healthy eating and fluoride use
  • Support with accessing an NHS dentist, including Dental Check by One (DCby1)
 
Health and community professionals
  • Training and awareness sessions for health professionals, foster carers, childminders, other stakeholders and children’s centre staffs in line with guidance from Public Health England (PHE) Delivering Better Oral Health (DBOH) National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) etc
  • Oral health promotion resources
  • Support and promotion of public health campaigns, such as National Smile Month, Mouth Cancer Action Month, Fizz February, Sugar Smart

Community Outreach
  • Community events and awareness campaigns
  • Targeted programmes in area of deprivation.
  • Collaborative work with other stakeholders to improve early prevention and access to care.
