In this introductory session find out how the Library can help you deliver evidence-based services and how it can support your learning and development at work.

 

The session covers using the Library space, joining and getting an Athens account, book and journal requests, the Library web site, KnowledgeShare (for regular subject alerts) and the NHS Knowledge & Library Hub.

 

                                           

Learn how to devise and execute a good search strategy using both keyword and subject heading searches, search the NHS Library and Knowledge Hub as well as primary research databases effectively by combining searches using AND/OR operators, refine your results using limits; export, email, save your results.

 

Clinical decision making tools are very popular! Whittington Health has access to both Uptodate and BMJ Best Practice. If you would like to attend a short (30 minute), practical session, designed to introduce you to the most important functions of these tools, then join us on one of these dates. Introduce the main concepts involved in critical appraisal of quantitative research, discuss features of research papers using selected questions from the appropriate CASP checklist.

The session covers basic statistical concepts necessary for understanding results.

Learn about Health Literacy and the people who are impacted by having low health literacy. In this hour-long session you will have your awareness raised and learn about how you, as a clinician, can help your patients, raise their health literacy comprehension and improve the future of their long-term health.
