Whittington Health endoscopy unit gets national accreditation
A national accreditation has recognised that patients at Whittington Health’s endoscopy unit are receiving excellent and safe care.
The department has achieved this national quality accreditation from the Joint Advisory Group (JAG)* on Gastrointestinal Endoscopy who aims to ensure quality and safety in patient care in endoscopy units across the country.
The endoscopy unit was assed against a number of standards including quality of care, patient experience, training, the unit environment, cleaning standards, equipment and the length of wait between referral and diagnosis.
Consultant gastroenterologist, Voi Shim Wong, said: “This achievement is a true reflection of the dedication and hard work of the endoscopy team. Achieving this award marks us out as one of an elite amount of hospitals delivering the highest quality and safe endoscopy services to patients."
*The Joint Advisory Group on Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (JAG) operates within the Clinical Standards Department of the Royal College of Physicians. It was established in 1994 under the auspices of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges [AMRC] specifically through the Royal College of Physicians, Royal College of Surgeons, Royal College of Radiology and the Royal College of General Practitioners. The JAG has a UK wide remit.
