Full story
During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Whittington Health sought to help people stay connected with their loved ones when they couldn't visit in person. We started a service which allows you to send a ‘Thinking of You’ postcard.
Originally established to alleviate the separation caused by the pandemic, these postcards have remained popular, especially among those who cannot make the journey to Whittington Hospital for various reasons.
Last week, we delivered our 1,000th 'Thinking of You' postcard to a patient on Coyle Ward.
These postcards allow you to write a heartfelt message and even include a personal photo. Our Patient Advice Liaison Service (PALS) team then print and hand-deliver the postcard on your behalf to your loved one.
PALS and complaints manager Paul McPherson has been involved since its inception and has personally delivered many of the postcards across the hospital.
He said that the postcards have been a real hit and patients love receiving them. Paul remembers one patient who received almost 100 postcards throughout their stay and each one brought a smile to their face.
Rest assured, we have no plans to discontinue this postcard service anytime soon so if you'd like to send a postcard to a loved one, please make sure to include the recipient's full name, date of birth, and, if known, the hospital ward to ensure it reaches the intended person.
