We know that many people in the communities we support have been horrified and distressed by the riots, intimidation and acts of violence that took place in various towns and cities in the UK in August this year.
Our thoughts are with anyone directly affected by the violence and unrest, and with all our colleagues across the health and care system who are caring for people injured or threatened in recent events.
We know that Muslim and refugee communities across the UK have been targeted with Islamophobic and violent attacks. At Whittington Health NHS Trust we condemn racism in all its forms.
Compassion and Respect are foundational values at Whittington Health NHS Trust, and all of our values are underpinned by equity.
We celebrate the fact that our fantastic, caring and hardworking staff represent a diverse range of ethnic and religious backgrounds, including those with refugee status, who serve a similarly diverse community.
We were heartened to see the outpouring of support for an inclusive anti-racist society across the nation following several nights of unrest.
We know that respecting and seeking to understand the differences in our experiences makes us stronger, kinder, and better able to care for all the people who come to us for support.
