Success for our consultants and doctors in training

We’re proud to spotlight and celebrate two recent recognitions for our doctors.

Full story

We are proud to spotlight and celebrate two recent recognitions which act as brilliant examples of our teams living our values every day.

Thanks to the dedication and determination of our Medical Job Planning Team, Whittington Health now has the highest rate of signed-off consultant job plans in London. In the last year, 98% of our substantive consultants and 94% of SAS doctors have had their job plans reviewed and signed off.

Job planning helps us understand exactly how and where our senior clinicians are working. This visibility supports better decision making, especially at a time when we need to prioritise limited resources. It also fosters fairness within clinical teams, supports wellbeing by setting clear expectations, and ensures we’re delivering the best possible care for patients.

The team has been on a journey, from fewer than 7% of doctors with digital job plans in 2019, to a record 98% in 2025–26. The use of a cloud-based system by RLDatix, now used by 145 NHS Trusts, allows for clear reporting to NHS England and has placed Whittington Health at the top in the capital.

We have also been recognised for excellence in medical education. Based on data from the GMC National Training Survey (2022–2025), Whittington Health has been named one of the top-performing Trusts in London for Geriatric Medicine and Internal Medicine Training Stage One.

This recognition reflects outstanding feedback from trainee doctors on everything from teamwork and handover to induction and governance. It’s a powerful endorsement of the inclusive, supportive, and innovative learning environment created by our education and clinical teams, driven by tools like simulation training and a strong focus on wellbeing.

These achievements are more than just good news stories. They are real-life examples of how all of us at Whittington Health are living out the Trust’s values and strengthening all three legs of the stool: quality, performance and financial sustainability. They also reflect the dedication, care and hard work of our teams, who remain committed to our patients and to making Whittington Health a place we can all be proud of.

A huge thank you and congratulations to everyone involved.
