We were delighted to be featured on the 6.30pm BBC News London bulletin on Thursday 14 May.

Full story

The segment coincided with NHS England's annual performance data release, revealing the capital’s health service has ended the 2025/26 financial year in its strongest position in years – with elective waiting times, emergency care and cancer diagnosis all showing significant improvement.

Here at Whittington Health NHS Trust, we are proud to be one of the top performing NHS Trusts. Our Chief Operating Officer, Chinyama Okunuga was interviewed about the incredible extra work our staff put in, which saw just over 5,500 local people removed from waiting lists for planned care as part of “sprints” that saw additional clinics take place in the evenings and weekends across February and March.

The number of patients waiting more than 52 weeks for planned care plummeted from over 650 in December to 76, and our Trust ended the financial year with 71.4% of patients seen within 18 weeks, exceeding the national target. We are so proud of our teams for pulling together to achieve this fantastic result!
