There are a range of services for adults in the community who have communication and/or eating and swallowing difficulties within Camden, Islington and Haringey including people with acquired neurological difficulties, people with mental health problems and people with learning disabilities.

These include:

Islington Community Rehabilitation Service, including REACH and CRT:
A specialist multi disciplinary service is offered to adults with a range of speech, language and swallowing disorders resulting from complex neurological and/or physical disability.

A specialist multi disciplinary service offered to adults with a range of acquired speech, language and swallowing disorders resulting from complex neurological and/or physical disability.

Services for People With Learning Disabilities:

The speech and language therapists are based in multi-agency teams within the boroughs of Camden, Islington and Haringey. SLTs offer direct and indirect to people with learning disabilities and their paid and family carers. Training is also offered to mainstream services to develop their expertise in working with this client group.
 
Speech and Language Therapy (Adult Mental Health)
The Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Mental Health team provides a service to in-patients and community clients of Camden and Islington (C&I) NHS Foundation Trust who have communication or swallowing difficulties.
 
We work directly with clients, family members or carers to support more effective communication and safer eating and drinking.
 
Clients can be seen at Goodinge Health Centre, in community locations, on inpatient psychiatric wards, at home or via video appointments.
 
The service cannot offer individual work to people who are not patients of C&I NHS FT.
Group work is offered to autistic adults who may or may not be C&I NHS FT patients if they have a formal diagnosis of autism.
 
We also offer relevant training for staff, either in person or online via Teams.
 
Eligibility Criteria:
 Individual referrals:
  • patients of C&I NHS FT:  please establish that person is a current patient of C&I NHS FT before referring
  • over 18s.
     

Group referrals:

  • over 18s
  • a formal diagnosis of autism
