Special expertise in all aspects of paediatric ophthalmology, squints general ophthalmology and cataract surgery.


Mr Jain is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust and holds an honorary appointment at the University College London Hospital, both large teaching hospitals in central London.

He has special expertise in all aspects of paediatric ophthalmology, adult squints and cataract surgery (all ages). His main areas of practice are Paediatric Ophthalmology, Adult strabismus, Botulinum toxin (botox) and Cataract surgery.

Mr. Jain has performed research on various aspects of ophthalmology and has been awarded a research grant by the British Ophthalmic Surveillance Unit to study the incidence of steroid induced glaucoma. The findings from his research have been published in respected international ophthalmic journals and presented at meetings worldwide including the American Association of Ophthalmology Annual Congress.

He is an active member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and a regular attendee at the British Isles Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus meetings. He has regularly refereed articles for the journals The British Journal of Ophthalmology, Strabismus, Eye and Ophthalmology.
He is involved in running a busy full time clinical service at the Royal Free, Whittington and Edgware hospitals which includes clinical work, training junior surgeons and allied clinical professionals, research and educational activities as the College tutor. He is an elected member of the Council of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and a skills tutor on their Microsurgical Skills committee.

Mr. Jain is fluent in English and Hindi.

Specialist registrar at the Leicester Royal Infirmary where he undertook further advanced training as a fellow in adult strabismus surgery. He also completed specialist training in paediatric ophthalmology at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.
