Mainstream Schools Physiotherapy Support
The aim of physiotherapy is to help the child/young person reach their functional goals. There are many ways this can be achieved and is individual to your child and may include:
Assessment
Where appropriate we carry out detailed assessment to explore children and young people’s physical abilities. We may also offer the child or young person a review at school or home depending on their functional needs and goals. Following an assessment , where necessary, we write a report to summarise our findings which is shared with parents/carers and the school.
Interventions
We offer a range of support/interventions which may include:
- A home exercise programme
- Advice for parents/school staff to support with their exercise programme
- Assessing and supporting with specialist equipment at home and school
- Advice and training for parents/school staff to support with manual handling
- Contribution towards Educational Health and Care Plans
- Demonstrating activities and strategies to school staff
- Working directly with individual children and young people or in small groups
- Hydrotherapy
Our ultimate aim is to support the child/young person and their family to be as independent as possible in reaching their functional goals.
