Haringey and Islington Community Vaccination service

Our roving service was set up in December 2020 in response to the rapid COVID vaccination rollout. We aim to provide COVID and seasonal influenza (flu) vaccinations for care home residents and housebound patients who are unable to attend a local vaccination service.

How to book
Our administration team are in regular contact with all local care homes, and can be reached via telephone or email with queries or to book a visit. For housebound patients, we require a GP referral to our dedicated email address to confirm a patient’s housebound designation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I eligible for a vaccine?

COVID-19 vaccinations are administered to all those eligible as per the JCVC's recommendations. These recommendations can be found on the NHS website here.

Flu vaccinations are also administered to those who require them based upon the JCVI's guidance, and this guidance can also be found on the NHS website here.

Who is classed as a housebound patient?

A patient is deemed to be housebound when they are unable to leave their home environment through physical and/or psychological illness. An individual will not be eligible for a home visit if they are able to leave their home environment on their own or with minimal assistance to visit public or social recreational public services (including shopping).

I am housebound. How do I organise a visit from your vaccinators?

If we haven’t visited you before, we need a referral from your GP. You can ask your GP to contact us, or you can ask us to speak to your GP on your behalf by calling us on 07557 795 950 or emailing whh-tr.community-vaccinations@nhs.net.

When can you visit?

Our service visits patients between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Who will visit me to give me my vaccine?

Our vaccinators are made up of teams of either one or two people. This will be a registered healthcare professional, and someone to assist them in setting up and carrying out the vaccination. All our staff carry ID badges, so please ask to check them when they arrive.
