Research teams

The Whittington Health NHS Trust Research Department is made up of two dedicated teams with a passion for ensuring patients receive the best possible care through evidence-based practice and have access to ground-breaking research - Research Delivery Team and the Research Support Team.
 
Research in a clinical setting usually requires specialist support to deliver research. The Research Department work alongside multiple teams in the trust to ensure patients receive the best care possible when engaging in research.
 
The teams work with radiology, pathology and the dedicated clinical trials pharmacy team in pharmacy who support research within the trust. The pharmacy clinical trials team includes two pharmacists and a pharmacy technician.

The Research Delivery Team

The Research Delivery Team are dedicated to supporting research and work alongside clinical teams to assist with recruitment, data collection and research specific activities.

The Research Support Team

 
The Research Support Team ensures studies and clinical trials are suitable for delivery at Whittington Health once they have received governance and ethics permissions via the Health Research Authority (HRA).
 
The team manages the set up and maintenance of research across the trust, as well as helping clinicians develop their own research studies, obtain funding and HRA permissions.

Department Management and Research Oversight Group

 
The management team are responsible for overseeing the research the trust delivers and frequently meet to ensure this.

The Management team meets with wider research active clinicians and directors at the Research Oversite Group (ROG) on a quarterly basis.
 
This meeting allows for research active clinicians and clinical directors across trust the opportunity to review and engage with the research activity occurring within the trust and to act as a critical friend as the teams strive to improve.

Community Research

 
Research can take place in a variety of settings. As an Integrated Care Organisation, research is also supported in community settings.
 
The teams are dedicated to expanding and embedding clinical research within community practice.
 
Outreach into community services such as Haringey Talking Therapies has been successful, and the teams are always keen to identify clinical services that are able to engage and provide patients access to research.
