Associate PI

The Associate Principal Investigator (PI) scheme is a six-month training opportunity led by the NIHR, where staff and trainees can gain practical experience and develop their understanding and skills in research.

The scheme aims to help create a culture of research within the NHS as it allows clinicians new to research to learn from experienced colleagues. Not all studies are able to support an API, but the Research Department are happy to reach out and request a study register where possible.

Whittington Health encourages uptake of the API scheme and have an API Lead in the Research Delivery Team who can be a point of contact for clinicians interested in learning more about the scheme.

If you want to learn more about the API scheme via the National Institute of Research (NIHR) website, please click here.

If you wish to contact the Research Department about your interest in being an API for a research study, please contact us via email - whh-tr.researchsupport@nhs.net
