March 2026 - Demolition of the Old Boiler House and Chimney begins
The start of the demolition of the Old Boiler House and its chimney has now begun. The structure is being carefully dismantled and removed as part of the enabling works of the Power Infrastructure Project.
January 2026 - Planning Permission Secured
We are pleased to confirm that planning permission has been granted for the next phase of our hospital site’s Power Infrastructure Project.
This stage of the project will deliver a new building on the hospital site to house a replacement energy centre, bulk stores and ancillary office accommodation. The development will replace the Old Boiler House on the south side of the site and represents a major step forward for the Trust’s estate.
February 2025 - Notice of demolition works
September 2024 - New transformer installed
We're pleased to announce the new transformer has been installed.
We're also pleased to report that we had:
• No reported RIDDOR or minor accidents during project delivery
• 1 NCA raised throughout phase 1a.
November 2022 - Project Launch
We have formally launched the Power Infrastructure Project to secure the hospital’s long-term energy resilience.
