Full story

Since the operational launch of its lower ground floor, Wood Green Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) has been offering MRI and CT services to residents across north central London in addition to the wide range of diagnostic tests already provided from the service based in Wood Green shopping centre. Wood Green CDC provides blood tests, x-rays, ultrasounds, an eye (ophthalmology) clinic, and now MRI and CT scans. After three months of providing MRI and CT imaging services to the community, we are delighted to announce the official opening of Wood Green Community Diagnostic Centre’s lower ground floor.

The service marked the occasion across two celebratory events. On Thursday 22 February the CDC team came together to celebrate the incredible work being done at the service and reflected on the positive impact the murals by Phoebe Swan are having on patients as they receive care. The Lower Ground Floor was then officially opened the following day by Professor Sir Mike Richards. The event began with a presentation from Baroness Neuberger DBE, Whittington Health NHS Trust Chair, and Jonathan Gardner, Whittington Health NHS Trust Chief Strategy, Digital and Improvement Officer and SRO NCL Community Diagnostic Centres, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and ended with a tour of the newly established MRI and CT facilities.

Gemma Walsh, MRI and CT Lead at the Wood Green Community Diagnostic Centre was delighted to celebrate this milestone moment with her colleagues at the CDC and commented, “The CDC at Wood Green not only brings CT and MRI diagnostic imaging into the community, making it easy for patients to access, but it also allows GPs to directly refer patients for some imaging examinations. Patients can receive diagnostic imaging without having to attend a main hospital site or wait for a hospital referral. This will allow the NHS to achieve its aims of reducing waiting times for diagnostic imaging and help combat local health inequalities.”

We’re proud to be able to demonstrate what the Whittington Health Trust has achieved alongside the effort and commitment of our partners across north central London, Capital and Regional and The Mall, our contractors, Storm building Ltd, and suppliers, as well as the committed project team and the community groups and local people who gave their time and shared their views. Thank you to everyone who contributed and made this possible.
