Mr Chetan Parmar
Biography
Mr. Parmar obtained his Master’s degree in Surgery after finishing medical school, with his higher surgical training taking place in the North East. Since qualifying he has gained experience of over 3000 surgeries and thousands of endoscopic procedures.
He is the Clinical Governance lead at the Whittington Hospital and a member of the Patient Safety Committee with the British Obesity & Metabolic Surgery Society. He is passionate about patient safety and has helped to establish the ''Emergency General Surgery” and the ''Surgical Ambulatory Emergency Care'' specialisms.
Mr Parmer actively participates in multiple randomised controlled trials in collaboration with UCLH and he is the principal investigator in studies with National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). He has demonstrated his evidence-based practice at numerous national and international events and presentations.
An active writer in his field, he has more than 50 peer reviewed articles and over 100 abstracts published and is a reviewer of reputed journals including the BMJ, IJS, BMC and Clinical Obesity. He is also newsletter editor of Obesity Surgery, International Bariatric Society (IBC) and International Journal of Surgery.
Mr Parmer is involved in teaching and training junior doctors and is their educational and clinical supervisor.
