Quality
At Whittington Health we define high quality care as safe, effective services and treatments delivered with kindness and compassion. The Quality Forum is for staff and service users to get the latest updates on quality initiatives, news and performance. We would like to hear your ideas about how we can improve quality in any of these areas.
CQC Inspections
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the regulator for health and social care services in England. The CQC inspects hospitals, care homes, dental and GP surgeries, and all other care services so ensure patients and service users receive safe, effective, compassionate and high-quality care. The outcomes of all inspections into Whittington Health services can be found on the CQC website.
Quality Account
Quality of care – safety, effectiveness and patient experience – is at the forefront of everything we do.
Our quality account priorities for this coming year were selected following consultations with external stakeholders, including our commissioners, patient representatives, shadow governors, and GPs, as well as our staff. We have also reviewed complaints received, incidents that have occurred this year and improvements still to be made.
The priorities support our strategic objectives which underpin our vision for the future of the organisation.
Our Quality Strategy also aligns our priorities with the NHS Outcomes Framework. This national framework gives an overview of how well the NHS is performing with the emphasis on patient outcomes. It focuses on improving health in five areas:

Our Quality Strategy also aligns our priorities with the NHS Outcomes Framework. This national framework gives an overview of how well the NHS is performing with the emphasis on patient outcomes. It focuses on improving health in five areas:
- Preventing people from dying prematurely
- Enhancing quality of life for people with longterm conditions
- Helping people to recover from episodes of ill health or following injury
- Ensuring that people have a positive experience of care
- Treating and caring for people in a safe environment; and protecting them from avoidable harm.
- As part of our process, we have also considered priorities that are important for our local community and will have the greatest impact on their health. As an organisation intent on joining up hospital and community services, we are looking to strengthen our role in health promotion and the prevention of illness, as well as caring for people when they are unwell.
Our priorities this year reflect this aspiration as we strengthen the integration of our services.
