District nursing teams
There are eight daytime district nursing teams, two evening teams and an overnight team providing 24-hour care to our patients.
For patients who can safely travel to a health centre clinic, the district nursing service also provides leg ulcer clinics and a catheter management clinic.
Our teams include district nurses, community staff nurses, healthcare assistants, communit matrons, phlebotomists, pharmacy technicians and catheter technicians with a wide range of skills and knowledge. Our teams are led by a district nurse team manager, who is a registered nurse with additional specialist training in community nursing.
Some of our nurses are also qualified nurse prescribers and use their expertise and professional judgement to prescribe wound care products and simple medications.
