What happens when you have been referred to us

Once you have been referred to the MSK team, your referral will be triaged by a senior clinician to ensure you are seeing the most appropriate team for your care needs.

You will then join a waiting list (see our current waiting times).

You will then be sent an opt in letter. Please use this information for arranging your initial assessment.

If your symptoms change

If you no longer require our services, you are not required to ‘opt in’ by contacting us. No further action is required. You will not be offered an appointment.

If your symptoms change or worsen whilst you are on our waiting list, please utilise our online services.

  • The getUBetter website and app will allow you to enter symptoms. The app will make recommendations for further management of your symptoms.
  • Please review the NHS England website for further information.

If you have a significant worsening of symptoms or you develop new symptoms, you may need to arrange an appointment with your GP for a review.
