Services for patients with lung cancer
Patients with abnormal chest x-rays suspicious of lung cancer are asked to attend the hospital for a CT scan and will then be seen in the outpatients clinic, with the results of the scan, within two weeks.
During the consultation we would decide if there was a need for further tests to make a diagnosis and refer on for appropriate treatment such as surgery (which is done at the Heart Hospital), radiotherapy (which is given at UCLH), chemotherapy or observation and palliative care.
We try to ensure that during the consultation all patients meet our lung nurse specialist, Sarah Pearson, and are given her contact details.
For more information, please see our leaflet called 'The lung cancer team'.
