Wound Care
The department provides wound care for patients with foot ulcerations. Foot ulcerations can be serious and may lead to amputation.
If you believe you have a foot ulcer or a non-healing wound, you should see your GP, practice nurse or a podiatrist as soon as possible.
If you have any concerns of infection you should speak to your GP as soon as possible. If you have any concerns of severe or spreading infection or gangrene you should attend your nearest emergency room.
Wound care can be provided in either a community setting or within a multi-disciplinary outpatient clinic based at Whittington hospital, depending on clinical need. Care provided in a hospital setting will be consultant lead and your GP will need to refer you.
Health care professionals; for further guidance on where to refer see referral pathway located in Information for Health Care Professionals page.
