General patients need to be booked via Choose & Book. Appointments for all specialities shown above can be made via Choose & Book with the exception of:
- General Medicine
- Plastic Surgery
- ENT (throat and voice services only)
Two Week wait patients can be booked via Choose & Book (for any speciality listed above). All two week wait referrals must be written on dedicated Two Week Wait referral forms which GPs can download here: http://www.nlcn.nhs.uk/ProReferrals
Patients who require surgery will be referred to the admissions service by a senior doctor within the relevant speciality; the doctor will request that a patient be added to the waiting list for their operation or procedure. Patients can attend the Access Centre on the day that they see the senior doctor to agree to have their operation or procedure. The admissions service may offer the patient an admission date before they leave the hospital. In addition patients that require a pre-assessment medical check prior to admission may be offered an appointment on the same day. Please see the Pre-Operative Assessment Clinic section for further information.
Patients requiring minor general surgery under local anaesthetic may be scheduled straight for surgery based on the initial referral letter sent to the appointments team. A consultant general surgeon must authorise that such a patient can be booked straight for surgery upon receipt of the letter prior to the surgery being scheduled by the admissions team.
